Liquid Termite Treatment - Termidor Is The Termiticide For Professional Exterminators

Liquid termite treatments were at one time the only way to effective deal with a termite infestation. However, with newer prevention methods such as termite bait systems becoming available liquid pesticides have taken a back seat.

Typically, liquid treatments worked by creating a barrier around your house using a pesticide called "termiticide. This chemical barrier prevented the termites from invading your house and establishing a colony. Using a liquid option a professional exterminator would normally spray in isolated areas such as small cracks in your house which termites might use to gain entry into your home. Additionally, they would inject several hundred gallons of this pesticide into the ground that surrounded your home providing protection from any termites for several years by killing any that attempted to burrow into the foundation of your home.

The two most common forms of liquid pesticides used to prevent termites are non-repellants and repellants. The non-repellants provide a quick kill of any termites that attempt to cross the chemical barrier while the repellants merely repel the termites from actually crossing over the barrier created by the "termiticide".

If you decided to use this form of treatment then you should consider focusing on using a liquid termite treatment that works immediately at killing these nasty insects. Pros to using this method include a quicker kill time where a bait system might take several months, its much cheaper and the chemicals used in the pesticide provide coverage for several years because they linger in the soil.

Unfortunately, many of the older liquid products are no longer safely recommended. In fact, the chemicals themselves could leak into your water supply, are now considered environmentally unsafe and in some cases the termites have been known to find gaps in the liquid coverage and still invade homes that were considered protected.

Some of the newer liquid termiticides such as Termidor are still preferred by many of the pest control experts. These newer chemicals only require a few ounces to be pumped into the ground around your home instead of the gallons that were previously required with the older liquid termite treatments. A safer chemical called fipronil, which although a bit more expensive, is now used, and it has proven to be an effective way to kill termites.
